Dr. Johnson, DPM, serving the military

Our military keeps our country and countrymen safe 24/7. In order to be the first line of defense at our borders and ready to deploy at a moments notice, our military has to remain healthy. Long hours on sore tired feet can take a toll on a body and moral. Wet socks can lead to serious illnesses that can derail missions. Dr. Johnson, DPM, helps military personnel keep their feet healthy.

Dr. Johnson has been a podiatrist for more than a decade and she takes her work seriously. With cheerfulness and kindness,  Dr. Johnson meticulously checks out her patients’ feet. She identifies any spots invading a healthy foot, determines the cause and prescribes the treatment to correct it. The machines she uses are loud, but effective. When patients leave Dr. Johnson’s office, their feet are as healthy as she can make them. If you have foot pain, make an appointment to see a podiatrist. Sometimes the cure is simply foot exercises, arthritis cream or shoe suggestions.

Dr. Johnson was rocking hot pink kicks when I visited her so I asked her for a shoe recommendation. Her recommendation was Hoka and she was right! Hoka has lots of shoe choices including running shoes, shoes for people with arthritis, and recovery shoes surgery patients or plantar fasciitis sufferers can use. Hoka shoes are not cheap so think of them as an investment in your feet. Hoka’s help painful feet feel better.

Thanks for the tips Dr. Johnson and thanks to all our DPM’s who take care of our military personnel. You keep our guys and gals healthy as they keep us safe.

Carolyn's interest in feet began in college when she met a young lady who was born without arms. The student used her feet as hands by writing and eating with them. Everyone on campus was very impressed with that students' ability to overcome adversity and the respect and awe she garnered was well deserved. Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and never forgot the young lady. Carolyn learned about the importance of good foot care from her mother, who was a diabetic. After Carolyn experienced foot pain she visited a podiatrist and discovered she had fallen arches. Carolyn traced the cause back to wearing flip flops that didn't provide arch support. Years later, after two pinky toe breaks, Carolyn's appreciation and respect for feet deepened and she wrote an ode to feet. In the spring of 2015 a talented illustrator brought her poem to life and Carolyn published My Feet: An Ode, which celebrates the wonderful versatility our feet provide us throughout our lifetime. Publishing My Feet: An Ode led to annual recognition of good foot care and appreciation. It was also the impetus for the Good Foot Care movement. Carolyn believes our feet tell a story about our lives. She is passionate about promoting good foot care and she is quickly becoming the " Ambassador of Feet". She is a Foot & Shoe Consultant and refers countless people to podiatrists.
